How We Made Back-to-School Exciting for Amazon Workers

Back-to-school isn’t just a moment for kids. Inside an Amazon fulfillment center, it’s one of the busiest, most physically demanding stretches of the year — the month the team is packing and shipping millions of notebooks, backpacks, crayons, and lunchboxes.

So Amazon brought us in to do something specific: get their employees genuinely excited about the season they were about to power. Not a customer event — an employee morale event, and honestly, those are some of our favorite jobs.

The brief: turn a warehouse into a celebration

Employee morale was the whole point. We transformed the associate entrance so that when team members walked in to start their shift, they were met with color, playfulness, and a little bit of “wow” — a reminder that the work they do actually shows up on a kid’s first day of school.

A fulfillment center is a big, industrial space, and that’s exactly what makes it fun to work with. Against all that steel and safety yellow, a wall of bright organic balloons pops in the best way.

What we built

We designed a full walk-through experience, not just a single piece — an organic arch framing the entrance, a giant school-bus balloon wall built as a photo op, a walk-around apple-and-reading-worm sculpture, plus pencil and crayon columns, a letter arch, and hanging ceiling pieces carrying the theme down the main walkway.

Every piece was built to do two jobs at once: look incredible in person, and even better in a photo — because a morale moment that gets shared and reposted keeps giving long after the balloons come down.

The apple sculpture became the unofficial meeting spot — big enough to walk all the way around, and detailed enough that people stopped to point out the little book worm in glasses. Back-to-school gives you a fun palette — apple red, sunny yellow, primary brights — and the trick is keeping it elevated instead of childish. For a brand like Amazon, that balance is everything.

Why Amazon kept inviting us back

Here’s the part we’re proudest of. We weren’t a one-time novelty. We became a vetted, trusted vendor — badged in, cleared to move through the facility freely, and relied on to get a big, complex install done cleanly and fast.

A full transformation like this went up in about two to four hours — with zero disruption to a floor that never really stops.

That speed isn’t luck. We pre-inflate and pre-build as much as we can in our own studio, then bring it in ready-to-go on our own truck fleet. On site, we’re efficient, tidy, and out of the team’s way.

And the best feedback didn’t come from a survey — it came from the associates themselves, happy to see us every time and asking what the theme would be next time.

The result

A warehouse full of people starting a hard shift with a smile. Photos all over the place. A client who booked us again. That’s what great corporate décor actually does — it’s not decoration for its own sake, it’s a morale investment people feel the second they walk in.
